This iconic MERCURY 7 by artist George Bishop (1988), is the recognized, signed and numbered, collector's limited-edition lithograph celebrating America's seven space pioneers; the seven chosen astronauts for Project Mercury and the first-of -a-kind sub-orbital and orbital missions by the United States in the 1960's; the early inning of the race to space with the Soviet Union. It vividly depicts an historic Redstone rocket at the moment of lift off. In the plumes of smoke are the images of these seven courageous men with the moon in the upper background. All of the astronauts who signed these prints back in 1988 have since passed away : D. 7/98, Gordon "Gordo" Cooper d.

10/2004, Walter "Wally" Schirra d. 10/2013, and senior member, John Glenn d. Gus Grissom never had the opportunity to participate in the signing having died tragically in 1967 in the fire that consumed the Apollo 1 team during a preflight simulation. His wife, Betty Grissom (d 10/2018) , signed the lithograph over his mission patch in his memory and for the benefit of the Mercury Foundation. The (unframed) lithographs for sale number from a bout the 800's to 1500.

They are each hand signed in pencil (reduces fading) by each of the astronauts and Betty Grissom largely and clearly next to his mission patch. The condition of all my lithographs is excellent particularly when you remember each is over 30 years old! They, along with many other lithographs, have been preserved in a dehumidified room lying flat. These are original signatures; not copies, or auto-pen reproductions.

These are the real deal and why they are so desirable! Accompanying the lithograph is the Documentation Certificate by the original publisher from 1988. It may be of interest as it lets you know the date each astronaut and Ms.

Grissom signed your lithograph and the location. I have included photos, some better than others, showing most of the participants signing the series of M7 lithographs, not specifically this one, however. I have also included a photo of the MERCURY SEVEN I had framed to my liking displayed at my home. I package my lithographs personally very carefully using thick -walled, 3 1/2 inch ID tubes and isolate each wrapping from contact with the sides. Since 1995 I have never received a complaint about the preparation , condition or packaging of my lithographs, a record I take pride in.

I can provide additional photos as needed. I GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE ASTRONAUT'S SIGNATURES.

These many successful auctions serve to verify the legitimacy of the lithograph and attest to the authenticity of the astronaut signatures. I invite all your questions or concerns.
