Issues with some older autographs is they can fade over time, mainly due to exposure to light, especially ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight, which breaks down the ink's chemical bonds and causes the signature to lose its vibrancy. Authenticators use microscopes that zoom in 10 times or more and can see any damage or issues.
